OSV Engineering Pte Ltd delivered an air conditioning unit in May for an offshore platform in India. The unit is to be used to air conditioning a DCS Control room located in a hazardous area classified as class 1, division 2 group CD on the Panna-Mukta Field. It is designed as a single package but includes duplicate air conditioning systems and duplicate pressurising systems all on one skid base. The pressurising systems comply with the requirements of NFPA 496 which include providing an airflow velocity of 0.305 m/s through all openable doors when simultaneously open. The pressurising section has 2 x 100% capacity with fan operation detection and automatic changeover to the standby fan if the duty fan fails. On duty fan failure a signal will be generated for alarm. There is a changeover damper which ensures that the duct from the standby fan is sealed. The unit operates using refrigerant R407C which is an environmentally friendly flourocarbon containing no bromine or chlorine.

The air conditioning unit cooling performance is 90 kW (2 x 100%)

The unit was delivered to Singapore for onward shipment for assembly into the module in India. OSV also provided the designs of the HVAC system and all other HVAC components including the control panel, heaters, dampers, ducting, grilles and diffusers.

OSV specialize in designing and building HVAC systems for areas classified as hazardous such as offshore oil and gas platforms and analyser.
